Mike Winterscheidt, CPA, PFS
Mike is the founder and namesake of the firm. Mike graduated from Saint Mary of the Plains College in 1975 with a double major in Mathematics and Business Administration - With an emphasis in Accounting. He also earned a Masters in Taxation degree from the University of Denver in 1978. Mike has been providing income tax planning, financial consultation and wealth management services for closely held business owners and high net worth individuals in the Denver area for over 40 years.
Mary Beth Widegren, CPA, CFP
Mary Beth joined the firm in December of 2014 and became a partner January 1, 2018. Prior to 2014 (1997-2014) she was a partner in a national CPA firm. Mary Beth specializes in individual income taxation, estate planning and personal financial planning, working primarily with high net-worth individuals and families, corporate executives, and closely-held business owners. Mary Beth is also very knowledgeable and has worked extensively with real estate clients, many of whom operate as family-owned businesses. Her focus is on helping real estate clients to properly structure entities and advising these entities on planning and compliance using current tax law. Mary Beth received her B.S. in Accounting from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her M.S. in Financial Planning from the College of Financial Planning. In addition to being a CPA, she is also a designated Certified Financial Planner.
Kathy Hanson, CPA, PFS
Senior Tax Manager
Kathy received her B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant since 1981. Kathy has an extensive background in tax compliance and planning for closely held individuals, business entities, estates, trusts and charitable foundations.
Tim Davis, CPA
Tim graduated from Whitworth University in 2007 double majoring in Accounting and Business Management. Before turning his focus to tax accounting, Tim was a financial statement auditor, giving him a strong background in tax compliance and planning for businesses as well as individuals. He has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant since 2009 and has been with Winterscheidt and Widegren, LLC since November of 2015.
Beth Heiar, CPA
Beth graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 1998 with a B.S. in Accounting and has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant since 2004. After 20 years in Texas she moved to Colorado in 2015 and became a CO CPA. She has been with Winterscheidt and Widegren, LLC since December of 2018. She has extensive bookkeeping experience and specializes in compliance for closely held individuals and business entities.
Scott Nakai, EA
Senior Tax Accountant
Scott received his B.S. in Accounting from Regis University in 2015 and has practiced as an enrolled agent since 2017. As an EA Scott is a federally-licensed tax practitioner authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS. He specializes in advising and preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, trusts, and any entities with tax-reporting requirements.
Renee joined our team in 2015 and has been a bookkeeper for over 20 years. She is very proficient in QuickBooks and has a vast knowledge and understanding of multiple payroll applications. Renee realizes that keeping up with “the books” can be overwhelming for business owners. She enjoys equipping her clients with the tools to manage the accounting side of their businesses.
